Xena Networks - "Open for Business"

It's now official! - On 23rd April 2009, Xena Networks announced the opening of its business operations with locations and resellers in North America, Europe and Australia.

Our company launch delivered the very simple message that Xena enables network equipment manufacturers and carriers to now deploy Ethernet test infrastructure that is inexpensive, simple to manage and easy to scale in terms of test port count and functional test capabilities.

The broad appeal of this business proposition was clearly seen by news of Xena's company launch being picked up in trade press from Spain to Singapore to San Francisco.

With a number of successful customer trials and betas coming to a close, exciting announcements of customer applications and new product features will soon follow, including our "official" XenaCompact product launch at the end of this month.

Introducing the XenaCompact

Xena's first product - the XenaCompact, is a one-rack unit platform that provides a complete suite of copper and optical Gigabit Ethernet and 10-Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. The 10GbE interfaces include optical XFP, SFP+ and copper CX4. The GbE interfaces include copper 10/100/1000Mb Ethernet and optical 100/1000Mb Ethernet.

XenaCompact supports interfaces for 10/100/1000Mb and 10GbE. Price starts below $10K USD per 10GbE port.

The XenaCompact's high precision, stream based, wire-speed L2/L3 traffic generation and analysis capabilities provide a very flexible platform for performance, load stress, pre-staging and functional testing of GbE/10GbE equipment and network infrastructure [see Application Note below].

Application Note:
Stress Testing a Layer-2 Switch

This Application Note provides a step-by-step illustration of how to use a Xena test platform to perform a simple stress test on a Layer-2 device's data plane and forwarding capability. The test setup is shown below:

Test Setup: Layer-2 Device Stress Test

The test setup has a source test port sending Ethernet frames of varying lengths through a device-under-test (DUT) such as a switch or switch-router into a range of addresses on the destination test port while real-time performance statistics are collected. Details of the tests conducted and performance data gathered is available by downloading this Application Note - here.
